SUNDAY REFRESHMENTS.
EVANGELICAL DEPUTATION'S DESIRES. 3y Cable—Pi ess Association—Copyright. Received 13. 9.35 p.m. Sydney, June 13. A deputation representing the Evangelical Council asked Mr. Flowers, VicePresident of the State Executive Council, to enforce the law closing fruit and eoft drink . shops on Sundays. One speaker suggested they ought to go the whole way and stop all trains, trams and boats. Mr. Flowers, in promising Cabinet consideration, said he, personally, favored the old-fashioned Sunday idea. The Puritan Sunday could not, however, be entertained to-day. The reaction in making such a by-law would be so great that there was no knowing where it would stop. They must be moderate. He saw no harm in providing facilities for people visiting seaside resorts to obtain reasonable refreshments.
A Bill-is being prepared providing that refreshment rooms within proclaimed areas may remain open during limited hours on Sundays.
