THE YONGALA.
EVIDENCE AT THE ENQUIRY. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Brisbane. June 13. At the Yongala enquiry, Captain Sim, formerly master of the Y'ongala, doscribed her as a very good sea boat indeed. While with her. lie encountered several heavy gales. He did not believe that she went on a reef. The Adelaide Company's superintending engineer stated that the Y'ongala's stability had been thoroughly tested. He did not think her loss was due to a breakdown of the machinery, which wathe strongest lie had seen on the Atistualian coast. She was registered in the highest class at Lloyd's. Other former officers of the Yongala described her as the finest sea boat they had ever been in. Most of the witnesses adduced different theories accounting for the loss, but were not able to agree as to the direction of the storm. Many different recommendations were made for the additional lighting of that part of the coast.
