A NEW THEATRE.
FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. Mr fiartiet H. Saunders lias now completed arrangements for the erection of an up-to-date theatre on the sections of land between Messrs. Abbott's, tinsmiths, and Mr. Joe West's, in central Devon street, the frontage of which is occupied at present liy two small shops. The theatre will lie built of ferro-con-crete, and will be replete with all modern conveniences, including a spacious balcony leading out from the dress circle. The latter will be well appointed and fitted with the latest theatrical chairs. A special room will be provided for the accommodation of the cinematographic machine, the latest type of which has already been cabled for. Special attention is being paid to the comfort of patrons and to making the building absolutely safe in case of fire. 'Hie erection of the building is to be * pushed on with nil speed, and, when completed, should be a decided improvement to Devon street and a convenience to the town. The total cost of the building and seating is estimated at about £2500. Mr. Saunders has entered into an arrangement whereby he will secure the best film programmes at present being shown in the cities, being an improvement even on the present lirst-clas« programmes he is supplying, and proposes to add other interesting features, particulars of which will be duty announced. His lease of the Theatro Royal terminates this month, and ho proposes to carry 011 in the W'hitelev llall until his new theatre is completed, submitting programmes of particular merit at popular prices.
