INGLEWOOD NOTES
OPERATIC SOCIETY. (From Our Own Correspondent). A meeting of those interested in the iforraation of an operatic society was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday last. Mr, H. Tiiomson loccupicd the chair. There was a large and enthusiastic meeting, and it was decided to form a society. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr. J. H. Rowe; secretary, Mr. A. ■ls. Stanley; treasurer, Mr. A. L. (Sutherland; conductor, Mr. A. H. Cottier; [pianist, Mr. J. Sutherland; committee, Mrs. Mcßeth, Miss Stevens, and Messrs. Thomson, Rowe and Hines. It was decided that the opera "Lolanthe" bo the subject for the .Society's first effort, and a very strong caste was arranged. A rehearsal was held immediately after it concluded, and everything went as well as could be expected. The ladies' chorus is very strong, and promises to be a feature of the opera.
