THE CHAMPIGNE RIOTS

PRO-GERMAN DEMONSTRATIONS. fty CutiP—Pr—k Aeqncint'nn—Copyright. Received 12, 10.20 p.m. Paris, June 12. ■ The agitation in the Aube district is taking a Pro-German character. Troops were mobbed whilst tearing down a German flag hoisted in the town hall at Buroville. Pro-German inscriptions were displayed in other villages. Aubc is in the southern part of the old province of Champagne, and includes a small portion of Burgundy. Probably the pro-German demonstrations arc due to the fact that many German vignerous are engaged in this district in the making of wines. It has been frequently alleged that much sham champagne comes from this particular portion of the district.
