Mutton—The markc* i« ttatdy, with a moderate demand. Holders arc firm.' Canterbury 3%d, North Island 3%<L
Lamb—There was good demand for all kinds of lamb, and there is an endeavor amongst holders to raise tL price of lamb. Canterbury 4%d, other than Canterbury 4%i Beef—The stocks si New Zealand beef on hand arc light, in consequence of which prices are firmer. The supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hinds 3%d, New Zealand fores 2%d.
Butter.—The market is favorably affected on account of the dry weather. There is better demand for choicest New Zealand. New Zealand 105s, Australian 9Ss, Danish Ills, Siberian 98s.
■ Cheese.—The market has recovered, and there is a better demand. The average price for the week for finest New Zealand was 5Ss.
Hemp.—Tho market 13 steady, and prices are well maintained. There 19 better demand for forward delivery. New Zealand good fair on spot per ton £2l, New Zealand fair grade £2O, fair current Manila £2O. forward shipment New Zealand good fair £2l 10s, fair grade £2O ss, fair current Manila £2l. The output from Manila for the weekwas 25,000 bales.
Wheat.—The market, is very quiet nothing is doing. The prices are nominal. New Zealand long berried wheat ex granary spot per quarter of 4901b., 30s. short berried 355.
Oats—The market is quiet but steady. New Zealand oats short sparrowbills ex granary spot per quarter of 3841b. 20s Gd, Danish per quarter of 32Mb. 17s od. *
Beans—The demand has considerably fallen off. New Zealand beans f.a.q. old crop per 5001b. 355.
Peas.—The market is depressed at present, but I think it will soon improve. There is more demand for forward shipments. New Zealand peas (partridge) per 5401b. 40s Od, Eggs.—The marFet is quiet but steady. There is a general and active demand. Moderate .supplies are coming forward. Italian per 1201b. 8s 3d to 0s 3d, Danish 7s Od to 9s od, Hungarian 5s fid to Bs, Russian 5s 6d to 7s.
Poultry.—The market is firm, with a general and active demand for chickens. Average prices: American B%d per lb; Russian Bd, ducklings Od, turkeys Bd. Pork—The market is flat with scarcely any demand, the weather being too hot. The average price is 4 ] /od.
Mr. Newton King has received the following cable from his Sydney agents re hides: "Heavies firmer."
