ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SMOTHERED BY A FALL OF EARTH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. An accident occurred this morning on the railway construction works at Rakauroa, a single mail, named"James Brentford, being killed. Decoded and a number of other men were engaged on a cutting near a watercourse, and a sudden fall of earth smothered Brentford, who was dead before he could be extricated. He was a recent arrival, and had only been two months on the works. An inquest will be held to-morrow. According to the Department's bookß all that was known of deceased is that he lias a sister at Wanganui.
