THE "GEORGE" FUND.
A FURTHER APPEAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Hon. George Fowlds (Minister of Education) asks the Press to make a special appeal to the George of New Zealand to contribute to the King George fund, promoted to provide from the Georges of the Empire a token of their loyalty to the George who will soon be crowned. "The response to the notice inserted in the Press by his Excellency the Governor," states Mr. Fowlds, "amounted to .€l4. This amount looks too paltry to send Home from New Zealand and would give altogether a false impression of the loyalty of his Majesty's dominions. The time for receiving contributions has been extended by 14 days and it has been arranged that the Bank of New Zealand will receive them at any of its branches and forward the amounts to Wellington. The time lias been too short for any organised movement, so that the success of New Zealand's part in the Empire's presentation depends upon the voluntary action of the Georges throughout the country.
