PROPOSALS FOR WINDING UP. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright London, June 8. An official statement has been made that the Birkbeck Bank has suspended business with a. view of reconstruction. The statement sets out that owing to the depreciation of securities the directors of the Bank have lodged a windingup petition. They estimate the deficiency at £375,000, against which tliev hold guarantees of £300,000, and anticipate that creditors will receive immediately 10s in the pound, but Mr. Plender, the auditor, estimates the deficiency at £775,000.
