SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Prras' Association. Wellington-, Last Night. The Government MeteorologWreports as follows:—Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed northward of New New Plymouth and Napier, but variable . winds elsewhere, moderate south-easter-lies predominating. : Rain and cloudy weather are reported in most parts of the country. The barometer is lowest about Cook Strait. Present indications are for rain and stormy weather generally, westerly and southerly winds, backing to northerly and increasing strong to •gale. A cyclonic disturbance is now passing via Cook Strait, and will probably he followed soon by a westerly storm area, with very strong pressure in the south. A southerly storm and much colder weather is due about Saturday evening.
