In the Assembly a motion for the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into the operations and powcTs of the Australian Jockey Club lapsed. The opponents of the motion claimed that it was a Ashing inquiry with the object of annoying the club, which had done so much to raise the standard oi racing and now spent £40,000 a year in prize money. Melbourne, June 7. The Cup entries include BroadswoTd, Martyr, Bridge, Formeden, Vice-Ad-miral, Bandiera, Las Angelos. The 170 entries for the Caulfield Cup include Broadsword, Lady Medallist, Martyr, Formeden, Los Angelos, ViceAdmiral, Bandiera, Lady Lucy, and Bridge. Fifty-nine have entered for the National Hurdles, including Pakau; 37 for the National Steeplechase; 66 for the Australian Hurdles; and 05 for the Australian Steeplechase. These totals may yet undergo alterations. Revised Melbourne Cup entries make the total only 185, but some have still to come.

Sydney, June 7. Additional entries for Epsom bring the total to 150, including Formedevan, Vice-Admiral, Bandiera, Genius, Los Angelos, Culprit, Broadsword, and Royal Soult.

For the Metropolitan there are 134, including Formedevan, Vice-Admiral, Bandiera, Genius, Lea Angelos, Lady Lucy, Royal Soult, and Broadsword.

Tamaki Steeplechase, two miles and a half—Pleiaxles 1, Okaihau 2, Arty 3. Also started: Cloudy Morn, Mozart, Bonnie Jean, Dhudeen and Castout. Won by four lengths. York ' Welter Handicap, one mile— Smilax 1, Electrakoff 2, Coromandel 3. Also started: Domino, Santa Rosa, Sir Artegal, Tattoo, Maxwell, Sea Elf, Flying Soult, Master Jack, Spectre and Solus. Won bv a head.

Winter Steeplechase, three miles—Antarctic, 12.3 (Scott), 1; Loch Fyne, 10.11, (Howard) 2; Kapakapa, 0.10 (McKinnon), 3. Also started: Sol, Red McGregor. Won by six lengths. Campbell Hurdle Race, two milesrJohn 1, Delegate 2, Don Quex 3. Also started: Miss Explosion. Won by six lengths. Fitzroy Welter, six furlongs St. Amans 1, Gloy 2, Haku 3. Also started: Kanewara, Weo Olga, Blue Mount, Sphinx, Scotch, Goodwin Sands, Fuse, Poietiers, Logey, Hard Rock, Jollie Fillie, Ruatangata, Parawai, Master Stead, Luperin, Taka, Manurewa, Tipua, Tua Kitua, Rambling Rose, Rutter and Tiresome. Won by two lengths. Farewell Handicap—Wauchope 1, Nyland 2, Dogger Bank 3.

THE BARLOW INCIDENT. The Taranaki Metropolitan Committee met last night in connection with the appeal by R. Barlow, jockey, against the disqualification imposed on him by the Egmont Racing Club at the recent winter meeting. There were present: Messrs C. M. Lepper (chairman), Hon. O. Samuel, J. Ellis, Blundell, Standish, O. W. Sole, Weston, Nolan, A. L. Thompson, A. Alexander, and U B. Webster. The appellant was present, with Mr. Quilliam, his solicitor, nnd Mr. J. Turton represented the Egmont Club. After taking part of the evidence, the committee adjourned until Wednesday, the 14th inst.
