LATE DEAN GINATY.

IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL CEREMONY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch. Last Night. The funeral of the late Dean Ginaty, S.M., Vicar-General of the Roman Catholic diocese of Christchurch, took place to-day. Before .tho funeral left St. Mary's Manchester-street North, a service was held there at 0.30 a.m. The cortege proceeded to 'the Cathedral, in Barbadoes-street, where a solemn pontifical requiem mass was celebrated by his lordship Bishop Grimes, in the presence of a very large congregaiiori The service was a.lengthy and impressive one.

At the solemn requiem mass, the Very Rev. Dean Regnaul, S.M. Provincial, acted as assistant priest. The Very Rev. Archdeacon Devoy, S.M., of South Wellington, and the Very Rev. Dean O'Donnell of Ashburton, two former curates of Dean Ginaty (when he was Missionary Rector of Christchurch) acted as assistant priests. At the throne the Rev. Fathers Hoare, S.M., and Dignan S.M. (later curates of the Dean) were deacon and sub-deacon respectively of the mass.

Among the other clergv present were the Very Rev. Father O'Shea, S.M.V.G., of Wellington, the Very Rev. Dean Bowers,, of Geraldine, the Very Rev. Father Tubman, S.M., of Timaru, the Rev. Fatiier Fay, S.M., of 'iemuka, the Rev. father Aubrey, S.M., of Waimate, tke Rev. Fathers Richards, of Hawarden, Hyland and Leen, of Rangiora, Doiill, SiM.A., of Lyttelton, Bonetto, of Akaroaj Drohan, M.SH., of Darfield,, Kerley, S.M., of Hastings, Maloney, S.M., of Wanganui, Taylor, S.M., of Leestoh, Bell, S.M.,of Mount Magdala, Graham, S.M., and Qumn, S.M., of St. Bede's College, the Very Rev. Father Price, administrator of the diocese, the Rev. Dr. Kennedy, and the Rev. Fathers McDonnell and Hanrahan, of Christchurch Cathedral. - A funeral oration and eulogy of the deceased priest was delivered by his Grace Archbishop Redwood, of Wellington.
