The Manawatu County Connsil was informed it could have a Coronation subsidy for a fountain, but not for an artesian well or water trough.

A RAILWAY BUNGLE. Maaterton, Last Night. Owing to a railway bungle a mortuary car containing the body of an old Mastcrton resident, which was being brought from Wangamii for interment, was shunted off at Woodville to allow horse boxes to be taken on. The funeral to have been held tJtU afternoon had in consequence to be postponed. This is the second occasion on which an incident of this sort has occurred during the past few weeks. AN ORIGINAL EXHIBITION. Christchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury Trades and Labor Council have arranged to hold an industrial exhibition toter in flhe year, from October 20 to November 18, support to the project being accorded by the Canterbury Industrial Association. This exhibition will bo the first of its kind yet organised by a trades council in the Dominion, and is already meeting with most encouraging support.
