DECREASE IN DRUNKENNESS. By Tdegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Tuesday. The police report to the annual meeting of the Licensing Committee commented on the substantial decrease in drunkenness during the past three years, the figures being 205 in 1900, 183 in 1910, and 100 last year. The licensee of the Central Hotel was cautionea against allowing women of ill-fame to use his hotel as a resort. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES BILL. Wellington, Tuesday. The friendly societies' Parliamentary executive waited on the Hon. J. A. Millar and urged him to bring in a Bill amending the Friendly Societies Act to ensure that rates of contributions be actuacily sound. The Minister expressed himself entirely in sympathy with the proposal, and said he would have a Bill drafted on the lines suggested for submission to the Cabinet as one of the measures to be passed next session.
