PLAGUE IN AUCKLAND.
NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. On the recommendation of the medical inspector, the City Council has ordered the removal of thirteen dwellings reported unfit for occupation and dangerous to the public health, within twenty-one days. The council ordered cellars of two restaurants to be re-modelled and made rat-proof, and structural alterations were ordered in the cellar of one hotel. It was further resolved to take steps to compel lessees in a street containing property built on Harbor Board leases to have the basements made water-prool and rat-proof.
