THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast: — A stormy night with thunder and lightning was experienced on the West Coast and southern districts of the South Island, with westerly gales veering to south-westerly after midnight, but the winds have moderated to-day. The weather has been very unsettled and showery, especially In the. northern and southernmost districts. The barometer has risen i» the south, but fallen in the north. Present indications are for' cool and changeable weather generally, and misty and showery conditions in many parts, but especially over the North Island. Moderate to strong southerly winds will probably prevail with a slowly rising barometer everywhere.'
