OUR PUBLIC BUILDINGS. •Mr. F. C. Bellringcr, the superintemdcnt, has submitted the following report to the Fire Board on the putlic buildings of New Plymouth:— Theatre Royal. —My requirements will be met if the following is siren effect to: (1) That ev«ry time the Theatre Royal is open to the public two firemen of my approval be on duty and paid for such service at the rate of 2s fid each per night to' see that all fire escapes, aisles, etc., arc kept clear, smoking prohibited inside the building?' and that no fires are permitetd to be lit underneath the theatre. fr2) That all exits to Devon street are kept open during such times and no loose hoardings are allowed in any part of these exits. r I

Drill Hall—The same conditions apply to this buiWing as are required for ! Hit! Theatre Royal. Brougham Street Hall.-Several repairs are necessary to this building, such as the removal or repairing of the old iron chimney, doors and window fastemtp attended, to, and attention generally to the building before I can recommend it for a license.
