Messrs \V. T. Jennings, F. Sal way ami \Y. Cutfield (Wangaimi)) were amongst the passengers per Barawa last night for Auckland. Mr. H. C. A special message to the News says that Mademoiselle Antonia Dolores caneluded a most successful tour at Auckland Choral Hall on Tuesday evening. Hundreds were unable to obtain admission. Mademoiselle leaves for Australia via Wellington on Friday. A Christchurch telegram states that yesterday afternoon Mr. P. Selig, manager of the Christchurch Press C'«., who is about to leave on an extended health trip to Australia, was presented with an address by the commercial staff of the Company, and also with a handsome travelling bag. Mr. Alexander has just roared from the White Star Company's service after a unique record, the whdle his seafaring career of thirty-eight having been spent with that company. He was chief engineer of the Britannic when she took the Imperial contingent to Australia for the Commonwealth celebrations. The Rev. F. (i. Evans, of Xew Plymouth, who was in charge of St. Paul's parish, Thomdon, Wellington, during last month, left yesterday to take up church work in Hawera. The Rev. H. VI illiams, who acted for Archdeacon Harper, of Timaru, during the latter'B recent visit to England, will now take charge of St. Paul's until the new vicar Is appointed.
Mr. Robert Fletcher, chairman of the Wellington Harbor Board and a member of the Wellington City Council, has decided to contest the Wellington Central seat) at the general election. iTr. Fletcher, who is a highly respected ciWzon, is an ex-sailor who was for many years in the omploy of the Wellington Harbor Board. He is the head of a large eaj-rving concern. f Mr. C. E. Bellringer has been appointed acting-chairman of the Taranaki Petroleum Company during the absenw of Mr. Carter. The directors express great regret that Mr. Berry's liealfch prevents him from taking an active rnrt in the negotiations for the sale of the company, and also in connection with the general affairs of the company, particularly so as Mr. Berry has in Hie past taken such a prominent part in the management.
