AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, May 29. In the second round of the amateur golf championship, lhc Hon, M. Scott, of Melbourne, was defeated by John Tulloch, jun., by 2 up and 1 to play. NGAMOTU CLUB.
The second qualifying round for the Ngamotu trophy was played on Saturday. Owing to the heavy rain in the morning there was a smaller field than usual, but about 1 o'clock the rain ceased, and a calm, dull afternoon made the conditions ideal for good scores. The following four members qualified:— Gross. Hep. xiet. C. H. Weston 94 15 79 H. H. Ward 83 2 81 D. K. Morrison 93 10 83 A. H. Steeds 93 9 84 In the last' week's tie between E. Bary and A. H. Steeds, the former won with the net score of 70. Yesterday the ladies of the Ngamotu Club held a medal competition, when the following were the five best scores:— Gross. Hep. Net. Miss Brewster 100 16 84 Mrs. Gunson 118 29 89 Miss Stephenson .... 97 <5 91 Mrs. Johns 115 22 93 Miss McKellar 130 37 93
On Thursday at 2 p.m., on the Tarahua links, McCormick, the Auckland professional, will play an exhibition match against the best ball of Messrs. Perham, George, and Broome.
