«. v WHAT NEXT? By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. The Wellington Painters' and Decorators' Union took action in the Magistrate's Court to-day against a wellknown resident whose son had assisted him to paint his house. The son had not received any remuneration for his services. The union contended that the son had received consideration in that he had been kept by his father. The Magistrate dismissed the case. THE OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN. Invercargill, Tuesday. Messrs. Massey and Allen addressed a large meeting at Riverton last night and had a cordial reception. Their speeches dealt chiefly land and finance on familiar lines. Mr. Massey predicted the biggest task before the Government or any other that took office within the next few years would be to clean out the Augean stable of malpractice during the last twenty years. A vote of thanks was accorded and the meeting concluded with cheers.
WELLINGTON EXHIBITION. Wellington, Tuesday. A large number of people attended the Wellington Industrial Exhibition to-day. During the past five days it has been open 15,869 people have attended. Numerous applications from country districts for space have had to be refused, as there is none now available. KING'S BIRTHDAY. Feilding, Tuesday. Feildin'g Holiday Committee decided to celebrate the King's Birthday on Saturday and also observe a whole holiday on June 22 (Coronation Day).
