OBITUARY.
SIR W. S. GILBERT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, May 29. The death is announced of Sir W. S. Gilbert, the playwright, of Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera fame. He died of heart failure whilst bathing. Received 30, 9.30 p.m. London, May 30. Sir W. S. Gilbert spent the day in London and returned to Horrowcald in the afternoon. A few minutes later a friend found him dead in the open-air swimming bath at Grimsdyke, where he has been teaching two children to swim.
