RACING IN FRANCE. INTENSE EXCITEMENT. By Cable —Pre«» Association—Copyright. Received 30, 1250 p.m. Paris, May 30. There is intense excitement in France over aeroplaning racing. There was a terrific rush at Lyons, a soldier and two women being killed. Vidart missed the aerodrome at Lyons, which was the stopping place. Legcaux and Hanriot then mounted their monoplanes and pursued and brought Vidart back.
Beaumont reached Nice, winning £2OOO, Garros being, second, he also reaching Nice.
INTENTIONS. Received 30, 0.20 p.m. Sydney, May 30. Hammond, the aviator, sails for New Zealand in a few days. On his return he proposes to start aviation schools at Melbourne and Sydney. A NEW ZEALAND INVENTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Tuesday. A resident in the Rangitikei district, Mr. H. W. McKenzie, who secured first prize for a design for a glider at the New Zealand Aero Club's competition, has been working for months on an aeroplane which is now nearly completed. He has introduced many new features in the machine, which somewhat resembles a Breguet. The main planes are 25ft. long and 4ft. Oin. in width. The engine, which is of 30 horsepower and weighing 1401b., will drive the propeller 1200 revolutions a minute. He expects to make his first flight within two months.
