Christchurch —The chief attraction was the match between Old Boys and Merivale, which resulted in Merivale being beaten by 4 points to 3. Sydenham were unlucky to be beaten by Albion by 7 points to 3, and Christchurch had their work cut out to beat Linwood by 6 points to 3. Canterbury College registered their first win by beating Marist Old Boys by 10 points to 5. According to the football writer in the Otago Daily Times, the New Zealand Rugby Union will lose £ISOO by the tour of the American University team. A Christchurch wire states that W. J. Mitchell, the Canterbury three-quarter, who was a member of last year's New Zealand team in Australia, played his final game on Saturday, and leaves for Sydney shortly. His departure will be a loss to Christchurch football, as Mitchell is probably the best defensive back seen there for some time.
