The Hon. C. Louisson (president of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club), who made the presentation, said Mr. Selig had been president of the South Island Trotting Association for two years and president of the New Zealand Trotting Association ever since its formation in 1899. That record spoke volumes for one who occupied such, a responsible position, where lie was bound to be subject to a great deal of criticism. Besides that, Mr. Selig" had been president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference for four years in succession, so that he had been able to obtain and retain the confidence of members.
