SHODDY BOOTS.
A CHRISTCHURCH COMPLAINT. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Christchurch, Last Night. At a conference of representatives of the Boot Operatives' Union and a number of boot retailers and repairers held to-night, strong complaint was made relative to (lie importation of shoddy hoots into the Dominion, and the following motion was carried unanimously:—"That it lie a recommendation from this conference to the Boot Operatives' Union that it take immediate steps to convene a conference of the boot trade generally with a view to having steps taken to prevent importations, which have increased during recent years and arc still increasing, of boots manufactured outside tin? colony, including a quantity of shoddy."
