PRESIDENT DIAZ'S RESIGNATION. TIIE PEOPLE PLEASED. By cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Mexico City, May 20. The resignations of President Diaz and Vice-President Corral were officially announced in tile Chamber of Deputies, where letters from both were read.
One deputy said that President Diaz's good deeds would outweigh his mistakes. The President Diaz was dead, but long live Citizen Diaz, was the cry. Demonstrations in the streets showed that the people were pleased FLEEING FROM MEXICO. EX-PRESIDfcNT DIAZ. MADERO ISSUES A MANIFESTO. Received 28, 5.5 p.m. Mexico City, May 27. Ex-President Diaz, who is feeble after his illness, has left for Vera Cruz. His intention is to catch a boat for Spain, where he will make his home. Madero, the leader of the insurgents, has issued a manifesto, in which he expresses the hope that peace will reign under the Presidency of De la Barra. COUNTRY IN A STATE OF CHAOS. HUNDREDS ON VERGE OF STARVATION. REBELS STILL ON THE WARPATH. Received 29, 1 a.m. Mexico City, May 28. Bands of insurrectos, unaware that peace had been arranged, killed several chiefs of police.
In the interior hundreds arc on the verge of starvation. Looting and burning of "stores are going on. The country is in a state of chaos. A number of Federal troops were slain and Government officials were gaoled after towns had surrendered to the rebels.
