NOTES ON THE MEETING. (By Telegraph.—" Moturoa "). M iinganui, Last Night. The racing was again very interesting, the favorites having a good time. The Taranaki horses, Mulga Bill and Patrobus, were successful, and St. Toney and ; Sandy 'Paul also ran prominently. The public went solidly for Equitas in the opening event, and she just got home after an interesting finish with St. Toncy. me rest were well beaten. The Grandstond Steeple was voted a moral for Lovell, who led nil the way. Zante fell at the first jump, but the rider, Cochrane, was not injured. The favorite. Melalocue, won the Balgownie Handicap all the way, Sandy Paul coming fast in the straight and got second. Euroco and Patrobua were most fancied in the Hack Hurdles. Euroco led in the first round and Clemain fell in front of the stand. Merry Lawn led along the back, but Euroco was again in the van before reaching the straight, where Patrobus came fast and won easily-

Ribstone Pippin was favorite in the May Hurdles, with Hydrant and Marton next in demand. Te Whetu, however, led all the way, and won comfortably. The Empire Handicap provided an exciting race. Mulga Bill led Cheddar and Lady Frances past the stand, and along the back Mulga Bill increased his lead, but at the turn Vi, Cheddar and Ivauroa caught the leader. Mulga Bill, however finished strongly and won bv a neck from the fast finishing Iranui, with Kauroa, Vi and Sunbonnet right up next. Lady Menschikofl shaped poorly.

Mortite and Amaru, who were made hot orders in the Farewell Handicap, were never dangerous. Tobias led along the back, but Aruake came to the front at the distance and won easily from Lady Kilcheran, with Gold Circle a close third. OTAKI MAORI HANDICAPS. By Telegraph—Press Association.
