DELICIOUS CAKES. _ Raisin Cake. —Cream together one and one-half tablespoons of lard or butter and three tablespoons of sugar. Then add one egjj, one cup sweet milk, one quarter teaspoon salt, two eups flour, three teaspoons baking powder, one-half cup small raisins; put in good-sized pan, pour melted butter over the top, sprinkle with suga and cinnamon and bake in a moderate oven. Ginger Cake. —Sift three-quarters of a pound of flour into a basin; add one cupful of chopped walnuts, one-half teaspoonful of salt, one-half teaspoonful of soda, one tablespoonful of ground ginsrer, one teaspoonful of einamon, and a little grated nutmeg. Melt together in a sauoepan ore cupful of molasses, four tablespoonfuls of butter, one-half cupful of milk. Let cool and add the dry ingredients with two well-beaten eggs. Mix well, then pour into a buttered and floured cake tin; bake in a moderate oven three-quarters of an hour. And serve Dragon Brand tea, the best tea that was over put into a teapot in New Zealand. It is a tea of unusual excellence, pleasing to the palate, and has an aroma all its own. It is sold at 2s 8d per lb, and almost all storekeepers in the district have it in stock.
