A CASE,OF FOKGERY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day William Stanley Wesley, a young man recently from England, pleaded guilty to forging the name of (icorgc Walker to a Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal receipt and uttering the same with intent that it should be acted upon as genuine. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
A WOMAN'S DISAPPEARANCE. AVanganui, Last Night. The hat and muff worn by Mrs. Melville, who disappeared on Saturday, were to-day found on the river 'bank four miles above the town. Foot tracks were discovered leading to the water. FARMERS AND DEFENCE REGULATIONS. Auckland, Last Night. At the Auckland Provincial Conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, on the motion of the president, the following motion was carried without dissent: -"That the Dominion Conference be asked to appoint a committee to fully consider the working of the new defence regulations as affecting the farming industry and especially in regard to thft suggestion not to camp young men fro-i dahying districts during the milking sea» eon," ° A PAPER'S JUBILEE. Christehurch, Last Night. The Christehurch Press daily paper celebrates its jubilee to-morrow. The messages of congratulation which it has received from England, Australia and all parts of the Dominion fill two and a-lialf pages of the paper.
