DECENTRALISATION.
IX -YEW SOUTH WALES AND VICTORIA. By cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Sydney, May 24. The Royal Commission on decentralisation in its report recommends that Port Stephens and Jervis Bay should be opened for oversea shipping. In order to make the ports effective as a decentralisation factor extensive cross-country railways connecting to the ports will be required. The report also recommends the linking up of the New South Wales and Victorian railways at Tocumwal and at Mulwala, in the Riviera. This will probably divert grain and wool to Melbourne. The connection of Broken Hill and Condobolin is another recommendation.
