THE SYDNEY TRAGEDY.

EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Received 24, !).2o p.m. Sydney, .May 24. At the inquest on the Basterds, Mr. Williamson appeared for the New Zealand relatives. Dr. Palmer stated that Basterd's brain was the largest he had ever seen or known to be recorded. He was unable to say that such an abnormality would incline to a tendency, to insanity. If money were received from New Zealand and there was no cause for worry that would account for the strong suspicion lie entertained regarding his insanity. Mrs. Basterd's brothers' evidence was to the effect that they did not know that deceased was short of money. A verdict that the deaths were caused by prussie, acid administered by Segar and Evelyn 'Basterd was returned, the coroner being of opinion that Segar was of unsound mind.
