AUCKLAND WINTER SHOW.

To the Editor. Sir, Two days lionet l and the- above show will bo a "thin* of the past." The great attraction of this year's show* is the display of produce, representing the various districts. 1 notice that with Auckland s enormous extent of country, extending from Mnkau to the North Cape, only four small areas are competing. while great stretches of country north and south are not represented. Many people around us will say, ''What (i slmme! Everyone should help." All right, Taranaki, come along and ''set the pace," We cannot outdo Auckland unless your shoulder is at the wheel. "Heave ho! my lads; heave ho!" You all know that Taranaki's reputation is at stake, and that it is your duty to help to "keep our end up'." You also know that entries close on Saturday night next, at 9 p.m., at Mr. llewloy'i ollice, and that the success of the show depends entirely upon wlmt you IX). Don't for pity's sake, come round after the show is over with a yarn that you did not know when entries closed or you would have shown something, or the other yarn that you had nothing to show. The first is a—excuse me. but you do know when entries close. The next is a —"not exactly"; yon have underestimated the abilities of yourself and ?our family. Your house is not full of mugs. There is some amount of brain power in every occupied house, and sufficient insrenuity or skill to produce something that will interest somebody and help to make the show. Then' after plunging head over ears into the cash competitions (for the prizes are many and valuable), bring your wife, all your kiddies, your mother-in-law, or your ''best girl"—let 'em all come!—and you will he pleased.—l am, etc., WALTER AMBURY.
