THE ASSOCIATION (iAME. The "soccer" season will be opened in New Plymouth to-morrow, when Elthara come up here to play the local team on the Tukapa ground. The JSew Plymouth team will be one of the strongest ever raised here, and will include Wylic, a recent arrival from Home, and Wcller, from Wanganui. Eltham, by report, will bo in full force, as they are determined to make a big bid for the championship, and a good game should be witnessed. The game starts at 2 o'clock, as the visitors will have to return by the 4.17 p.m. train. Mr. J, Clarke, late of the Christchurch Football Association will most likely have charge of the game.

The Taranaki representative football team plays Wanganui on Saturday week, June 3rd.

The following will play for Tukapa juniors in their match against Stratford to-day on the Western Park,,at 2 p.m.: \V. Roebuck, 11. Smith, B. Allen, Weston, R. Thompson, L. Patterson, Brabant, W. Patterson, Smith, O'Grady, H. Morshead, A. Morshead, G. Lister, 11. Sole and Gray. Mr. Norman Barker, a former member of the Tukapa senior team, who is relinquishing his position as foreman printer on the Taihape Daily Times to take up an important position on the Rotorua Times staff, was entertained at dinner by members and friends of the Old Boys' Football Club (says the Taihape Daily Times). Between twenty and thirty gentlemen were present. Mr. George Wrightson (president of the club) ocoupied the chair, and, at the conclusion of a sumptuous dinner, proposed the health of the guest of the eveijing. The speaker said that Mr. Barker was one of their leading lights in football matters, and his loss would be severely felt, for not only as a player, but aho as secretary of the club, his services had been invaluable. As a private citizen he was honest, straightforward and affable, and he was widely esteemed for his many genuine qualities. On behalf of the club members lie presented Mr. Barker with a handsome »"t of silver entree dishes, suitably inscribed, as a small tangible token ol their esteem.
