Buddo give the population of the two islands of New Zealand as follows: North Island: 1011, 543,396; 1009, 473,895; nn increase of 09,501. South' Island: 1911, 441,258; 1906, 390,108; &H increase of 45,150. The total population of New Zealand advanced from 800,003 to 984,fif)4. The figures are still incomplete. but the returns to come are small. The relative positions of the two . islands, said Mr. Buddo, had altered ; since tin; last batch of returns reached him. Tile difference in the increases of the North and South Islands wag 24,351.
