DELICIOUS CAKES. Raisin Cake.—Cream together one and one-half tablespoons of lard or butter and three tablespoons of sugar. Then add one egg, one cup sweet inilk, one quarter teaspoon salt, two cups Hour, three tenHpoons baking powder, one-half cup small raisins; put in good-sized pan, pour melted butter over the top, sprinkle with suga and cinnamon and bake in a moderate oven. Ginger Cake. —Sift three-quarters of a pound of ilour into a basin; add one cupful of chopped walnuts, one-half teaspoonful of salt, one-half teaspoonful of soda, one tablespobnful of ground gineer, one teaspoonful of cinamon, and a little grated nutmeg. iMelfc together in a saucepan one cupful of molasses, four tablespoonfuls of butter, one-half cupful of milk. Let cool and,add ),he dry ingredients with two well-beaten eggs. •Mix well, then pour into a biittered and f floured cake tin; bake in a moderate I? oven three-quarters of an hour.
