FIRES.

RAG-LAN POST OFFICE DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland. Saturday. The Raglan post office and the dwelling of the postmistress were destroyed by lire on Thursday night. Only- the miiil matter was .saved. It is supposed the lire was caused by clothing in a wardrobe becoming ignited. OUTIiUEAK IN -WELLINGTON. Wellington, Saturday. A lire broke out in the Skating Rink in Vivian street shortly after midnight, but was suppressed bv the brigade before cNlcnsive damage was done. The building is owned by .Mr. T. G. Maearthv and leased by Fuller and •Sons, Ltd. The lire originated below the lloor of the room in which the skates were stored, and tlieve is every reason to believe it was tli" work ot an incendiary. It is the second attempt within six weeks. A big hide was limned in the floor under thw front rooms, and some skates damaged, but the flames did not reach the skating lloor. Members of the lire brigade were altending their annual ball when they received the call. The building and contents were insured in various ollices for X1'250.
