THE WAIHI MINE

NO INSIDE KNOWLEDGE. By cable.—Press Association.—Copy right London, May 18. At the meeting of shareholders of the Waihi mine, Mr. Mitchinson, chairman of directors, said there was not the shadow of foundation for the that the directors possessed ; ivate knowledge which they had not coi.nuuiicated to shareholders. He feared the reserves did not possess the stable characteristics they had hoped, but the potentialities were enormous. The board > did not object to a much more extended report than Captain Richards had time to make, should the shareholders so desire, and they were willing to meet the wishes of New Zealand shareholders by adding to the board one member closely in touch with New Zealand. The report was unanimously adopted. The New Zealand resolution was not moved. Mr. Arthur Rhodes, of Christchurch, was appointed a director.
