DELICIOUS CAKES. | Raisin Cake.—Cream together one and oiio-hnlf tablespoons of lard or butter anil three tablespoons of sugar. Then add one egg, one cup sweet milk, one quarter teaspoon salt, two cups flour, three teaspoons baking powder, one-half cup small raisins; put in good-sized pan, pour melted butter over the top, sprinkle willi suga and cinnamon and bake in a moderate oven. fiinger Cake.—Sift three-ipinrters of a pound of flour into a basin; add one cupful of chopped walnuts, one-half teaspoonful of salt, one-half teaspoonful of soda, one tablc«poonful of ground ginger, one teaspoonful of cinainon, and a little grated nutmeg. Melt together in a saucepan one cupful of molasses, four tablespoonfuls of butter, one-half cupful of millc. Let cool and add the dry ingredieuts with two well-beaten eggs. 'Mix well, then pour into a buttered and floured cake tin; bake iu a moderate oven three-quarters of an hour.
