LONDON'DAIRY REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths & Co. are in receipt of tho ! following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills & Sparrow, dated April 7. Kill. The weather has been exceediup]v cold for the time of the year: in fact, it is stated that nothing like it has been experienced in April for the last forty years. . Snowstorms have occurred throughout the country, and if these conditions last it should materially help the market on. F.he secondary grades, of which there is ah accumulation. Danish.—The quotation has been advanced tliree the demand for really choicest quality being good. Siberian.—The best butters are selling well, which is ijot to be wondered at. for the quality js.verv good indeed, and they are cheap in'comparison with other kinds.
Australian.-We have only hail the s.s. Orontes with about lo.lllio boxes to hand this wee'k; but as the s.s. Somerset, which arrived" last week with -10.000. was not cleared, there has been suilicicnt on the market to fill requirements, with the exception of choicest ijliality. which is still very scarce. We cannot report any improvement in the trade on seconds, and although audits are willing to meet buyers in every way possible, the butters
unfortunately are not clearing. It is to i>" imped tii.it the quality of the future arrivals will show considerable improvement, as this will considerably help the situation.
Xew s.s. Tnrakina butter has cleared up very well indeed, the quality generally giving every satisfaction. There were, however, a few brands which showed some irregularity. The s.s. Athonic is now due, and as she carried about 13.000 boxes less than the s.s, Tnrakina had, and eousidernig the scarcity of fine butters just now. we feel confident that this arrival will meet with a good demand nt advanced prices. Cheese.—Stocks of really choice quality Canadian are small and command frill prices. The New Zealand trade has been a little quiet at the advance, but there is really no alteration in the position, and we think 02s is now fairly well established. It needed just a little standing out and firmness on the part of agents, hut the result should certainly be satisfactory to the factories. LOCAL MARKETS.
