A widow named Talamantes, whose husband and two sons had been shot as rebels, entered the insurgents' ranks and organised a band of Indians, all of them from the neighborhood where Colonel Chiapas' forces were operating, and captured Chiapas after, a desperate ride, in which Chiapas was wounded. The widow ordered his execution, which was promptly done by an Tndian firing party. It was by Chiapas' orders that the husband and two sons of Talamantes were condemned to death.

PEACE CONDITIONS. Mexico City, May 1(1. Upon the willingness of the Mexican Government to allow the insurrectos to name three members of Cabinet and the Governors of fourteen of the twentyseven States depends the peace issue. General Miulero expects to become President.
