COLONIAL NAVIGATION.
DEPUTATION TO A MINISTER. By cable.—Press Association—Copyright London, May 16. Mr. Buxton, President of the Board of Trade, received a deputation of shipowners in reference to colonial legislation. Mr. Norman Hill, of Liverpool, urged that shipping should he regulated by Imperial legislation. The idea of colonial legislators endeavoring to enforce whatever Acts they cho3e to pass was absolutely appalling. Mr. R. Dunlop, of fliasgow, said that many proposals in the Commonwealth Navigation Bill were contrary to the Imperial law.
Mr. Buxton said he would discuss the matters with the overseas delegates and therefore it would be improper for him to express his view?. He promised, however, to bear the deputation's statements in mind.
