REFORM OF THE LORDS. DEBATE IN THE LORDS. Bv Cable—Press Association—Copyright London. May 10. Lord Lansdowne, speaking in the debate on the Reform Bill, said that though there were great difficulties in the way. he did not despair of arranging lor the representation of other religious denominations besides the Anglican. Nothing ■was further from the thoughts of the Opposition than that the Government should accept his Bill in exchange for the Lords accepting the Veto Bill.

Lord Lansdowne's Bill gave neither and satisfied no one. What the Government wanted to know was the relation of this Bill to the Veto Bill. The first business of the Government was to carry the latter.
The Duke of Devonshire, Lords Selborne and Willoughby Do Broke, supported and Lord Brassey opposed the Bill.
Lord Lamington advocated the incorporation of colonial representation. The debate was adjourned. THE GOVERNMENTS ATTITUDE. Received 17. 11 p.m. London, May 17. Not until the Veto Bill became law would the Government be in a position to consider the reform proposal. lie heartily hoped it would then be possible to come to an agreement satisfactory to all sides. Such an agreement would lie more enduring because of its being founded on consent. The debate was adjourned. VETO BILL IX THE LORDS. Received IS, 12.5 a.m. London. May 17.
