HOSPITAL CONFERENCE.

IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS. | A conference of delegates from the Taranaki hospital boards was held at Stratford yesterday. There were present: Messrs. R. H. Nolan (chairman), C. E. Parrington (secretary), of the Ilawera Hospital Board, E. Marfell (chairman), S. Ward (member), and T. 11. Penn (secretary) of the Stratford" Hospital Board, F. C. .1. B'ellringer (chairman), D. H. McDonald (member), and C. M. Lepper (secretary) of the. Taranaki Hospital Board. | After considerable discussion, the delegates pledged themselves to support the following recommendations to their respective boards: — I (1.) That the Taranaki Board provide accommodation for the aged, the consumptive, and the incurables of both sexes; such accommodation to be provided at the cost of the Taranaki Board. i (2.) That the Hawera and Stratford boards pay such weekly miaintenance fees, as may be decided by the institutions committee, for each patient or inmate accommodated in the institution from their respective districts. (3.) That in addition to the weekly maintenance fees the Hawera and Stratford boards pay a proportion of the interest on the capital cost of any buildings that it is deemed necessary for the Taranaki Board to provide for the above purposes, and also a yearly sum as a set-off towards depreciation of the said buildings, the value of the buildings and equipment already existing be fixed at £3OOO, and the yearly interest not to exceed 5 per cent. The said proportion of interest and depreciation, being the same as the capital valuation ol ' the districts of Hawera and Stratford | bear to the aggregate capital valuation of the districts of Taranaki, Hawera and Stratford. (4.) The chairmen of the Taranaki _ Hawera and Stratford boards to forir ; the Institutions Committee. (5.) In the event of any dispute be tween the above boards, the decision ol the Department to be considered final (6.) The question of depreciation am all other matters for the' welfare of thi institutions to be left to the Institution; Committee. I i
