The Sun newspaper received a cable from Mr. Seifert, of Palmcrston North, New Zealand, Fogwell's backer, stating that if Arnst was trying to get a race against Barry ahead of Fogwell his action was unsportsmanlike, as Fogwell sent his deposit first. | Arnst states he cannot consider anybody but himself in the matter. When he opened negotiations with Barry, he had no idea that Fogwell was trying for a match.
