Some favor the view that salaries should only be paid to those requiring them and others consider £l5O or £2OO enough. Mr. Ward, Labor member, says that nothing less than £4OO a year would do. REFORM OF THE LORDS. London, May 15. In the House of Lords Lord Lansdowne, in moving the second reading of the Lords' Reform Bill, said that the Lords had never claimed an absolute veto.
Replying to Lord Morley's speech. Lord Lansdowne said that he had never considered the Bill itself a solution. It was intended as a supplement to and not as a substitute for a Bill dealing with the relations between the Houses. Given the sort of majority the Radicals had held in the House of Commons, a Radical majority in the House <i Lords was not only possible under his scheme but such would ensue. THE VETO BILL, London, May 13. la the House of Commons. Mr. F. E. Smith moved the rejection of the Veto Bill.
