Mr. A. G. Millington, gaoler at Wellington, and lute of New Plymouth, is unwell. A London cablegram states that Oxlord University is conferring a doctorship degree upon Sir Joseph Ward, Premier of New Zealand. Mr. T. B. Bolton, manager of Messrs. Fletcher, Humphreys and Co., Christchurch, and Mr. J. Ilott, jun., of Wellington, are on a visit to New Plymouth. The funeral of the late Benjamin Knrotli took place yesterday, the interment being made at Te Heiiui cemetery. The service at the graveside was read by the Rev. John Wilkinson, actingvicar of St. Mary's. .Mr. G. 11.I 1 . Armstrong, of Opunake, who is- on a visit to England, intends to leave on his return trip early in July, after the Coronation celebrations. lie will make his homeward journey via New York and Canada. A Pahiatua telegram states that Mr. J. C. Cooper, who was the Reform party's candidate for the Pahiatua seat last election, has definitely decided that owing to the demands of business lie will be unable to contest any seat this election. A Wellington wire states that Captain Hamilton, formerly A.D.C. to Lord Islington, was married at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral yesterday afternoon to Miss Enid Elgar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elgar, of Eeatherston. Captain Hamilton is the. only son of Lord Claude Hamilton, and nephew of the Duke of Abercorn.
