ALLEGED ESPIONAGE.
WHAT MR. ROXAYNE SA\*. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. Mr. T. Ronayne, (leneral Manager of Xew Zealand Railways, was asked by a reporter to-day if lie had any remarks to make concerning the allegations of espionage which have been made by railway servants against the Department. He stated lie knew nothing of any such thing, and could make no statement of a more particular nature. The Railway Department employed inspectors to see that the guards and ticket collectors did their work properly, but they were all known, and there was little difference between their employment and that of the inspectors in the tram service. To call them spies v.a« no more reasonable than lo apply the same term to the auditors who went round the railway stations to examine the books.
