THE WHOLESALE CLUB. J By Telegraph.—Press Association. Cliristchurch, Last Night, j An informal meeting of creditors of the Wholesale Club was held this morning. A number of creditors were pre- j sent, and the proceedings were conducted in private. It is understood that after some discussion it was decided that the company should go into liquidation. From the figures submitted to the meet-1 ing. it would appear that the dividend that will he available for unsecured creditors will be a slender one. It is stated that a good deal of indignation was expressed by several creditors, and it is considered probable that interesting developments may arise in tbe near future. HOME RULE. The Coronation will be celebrated by aa open-air service, an entertainment by school children, and street processions by day, and at night by illuminations. AN AVERTED COLLISION. Auckland, May 11. The guard of the train which ran away from" Otnhuhu on the evening of Easter Monday and narrowly escaped colliding with a south-bound Main Trunk express, has, it is stated, been reduced in rank as n result of investigation into the causes of the accident. Two other officials who were also suspended have been exonerated. It has been stated that Mr. Claude, whose promptitude was the means of averting a collision, will be given a free pass on the railways of the Dominion for the remainder of his life. Mr. Claude, however, has not received any intimation to this effect, although he has been thanked by the Department for his con duct.
