LONDON WOOL SALES. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, May 10. The wool sales were animated. Crossbreds are firm at opening prices, and merinos about, a halfpenny above March prices. LONDON MARKETS. London, May 10. Tallow—l4lß casks were offered and 954 sold; prices unchanged. AMERICAN WHEAT. London, May 10. The American visible wheat supply is 47,374,000 bushels. L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. Poultry—On Saturday we had a large entry, about 250 birds being penned. There was a keen demand for all birds, pullets especially meeting with very keen competition. We quote:— Pullets, purebred 4s (id to 5s 3d, others Is fld to 3s 7d; hens, fat Is Sd to '2s 3d, ordinary Is 2d to Is 8d; cockerels (in good demand), fat Is lid to 3s 9(1; geese, 3s 3d to 3s 9d; ducks (good demand), "2s 2d to 2s 7d. In the mart we disposed of a large quantity of household furniture and sundries. Fruit.—The market is good for all fruit offering. Island consignments arrived this week in good order and sold well. We quote:—Bananas, green, 8s to 10s 3d: oranges, 7s (Id to 8s; grapes, Is to Is 3d best, others B'/ 2 d to ll'/ 2 d: tomatoes, best 5s to 5s 9d, green 4s 9d; apples, cookers, bushels 5s to 5s 9d, dessert (is fid to 8s fid; watermelons, 7s fid <\vt.; pears, 4s 9d to as Od per box. Mart.—-We had a very heavy entry of poultry last Saturday, some very choice birds being arnonst the lines. * Three pens of pullets, Minorcas, white Leghorns ami brown Leghorns, \vere much admired, and realised .is 4d, .is '3d-and 4s Id each respectively. A nice line of turkey gobblers realised (is to Gs Cd Table ducks were very much,in demand . from 2s 3d lo 2s Gd. Other prices re >.sed were: —Hens, old la 2d to Is 3d, laving and young, up to 4s; crossbred pullets, Is 6d to Is lid; chick pullets, fi%d to Is; cockerels, good is, young 7d to Is 4d; p.b. Minorca (State farm) cockerel, 7s 6d; I'adman cockerel, 3s fid; Padman pullet, 2s Id. Sundries at usual rates. Two greyhound dogs realised £1 Is and 10s.
Fruit.—Tlio market, as regards New Zealand fruits, lias been dull during tl)e week. Island oranges and bananas arrived, the latter in poor condition, but sold well notwithstanding.
