PETROLEUM NEWS

THE TARANAKI COMPANY. Operations at the Taranaki Petroleum Company's bores at Molnroa continue to make good progress. At No. a bore drilling is proceeding very satisfactorily, papa formation having again been struck. There is no change at No. 2, where oil flows continuously. At No. 3 bore drilling has been suspended in order to lower the casing to the bottom of the bore, an operation that had been delayed owing to the want of a suitable reamer. This, however, has now been secured, and a hard seam passed through some time ago will be reamed and the casing lowered. When boring operations ceased very favorable country was being penetrated. The spoil obtained was thoroughly saturated with petroleum, and indications showed that an oil seam was close at hand Mr. Keith is of opinion that he will strike this soon after drilling operations have been resumed, which will be as soon as the casing is lowered to the bottom. Messrs. Redmond and Donovan, the Irish Home Rule delegates, were interested visitors at the bores yesterday. Buy preference snares at once. They are a perfectly safe and very promising investment, and one that may be re commended with confidence. Send to Walter Bcwley, New Plymouth.—Advt.
